The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has taken further action to promote Paralympic sports and the Paralympic Movement by launching an own channel on the popular video community YouTube.
From now on, fans of the Paralympics can watch the Paralympic sports from all over the world on YouTube, the leading online video community that allows people to discover, watch and share originally created videos. Under the address www.YouTube.com/ParalympicSportTV everybody can watch clips of Paralympic sports, athletes and events.
Viewers of ParalympicSport.TV on YouTube can enjoy the different features YouTube offers: they can subscribe to the channel, watch, rate and comment the latest video clips and upload their own videos and many more. Besides uploading a selection of video clips from the IPC’s internet TV channel regularly, the IPC therefore also encourages Paralympic athletes and all fans of Paralympic Sport to upload their Paralympic content on the YouTube channel.
Video clips uploaded by IPC will include athlete portrays, sport features, event reports and trailer of the monthly ParalympicSport.TV magazine paraEmotion. During the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games from the sixth to the 17th of September daily news clips will be published on the channel to keep viewers up to date about what happens in Beijing.
The IPC President, Sir Philip Craven, said: “Having a site on YouTube will help to further raise awareness for the Paralympic Movement. I encourage everyone out there to utilise this feature and upload any video that could provide another glimpse into the Paralympic world”.
