Vote for the winner of Pimp my Wheelchair II
© REHACARE.de
Forget “Germany‘s Next Superstar” and “Germany’s Next Topmodel”! At this year’s contest of “Pimp my Wheelchair”, REHACARE.de found true talents. We selected 5 finalists from all your creative submissions, from which you get to choose Germany’s coolest wheelchair until September 30.
We will announce the winners at the end of September. The awards will be handed out at the REHACARE trade fair, which takes place in Düsseldorf from October 6 -9, 2010.
Before you get to select your favorite via mouse click at the end of this page, the finalists briefly explain why they pimped their wheelchair this way.
Globetrotter wheelchair
Robert, 15, from Augsburg has already seen a lot of this world: “I have collected and glued the stickers on the hand wheel’s side guard over the years, because I have been everywhere with my wheel chair." When he is losing strength, Robert has some help: “My stuffed animals help me ride!!” Robert‘s wheel chair also has small flashing front wheels that he is very proud of – unfortunately he cannot take a picture of them.
Hell on Wheels wheelchair
Christian, 27, from Borken started at the tender age of seven to pimp bicycles. His wheel chair slogan is "Hell on Wheels": "First I replaced the boring metallic blue with a 5-layer flecktarn camouflage paint job. To be more mobile at Open air concerts and on walks with my dog, I chose off-road tires." A special highlight: "In the end I put a big eye catcher on the back rest. With the help of my mother-in-law’s sewing skills, we changed the bland looking back seat cover into a real head turner."
Blazing wheelchair
Philipp, 20, from Wuppertal has a very fiery vehicle: "Since I think it is a hot chair, I planted a few flames on it. I also attached a trunk and chrome-plated the wheel rims. I designed my wheelchair’s emblem myself. I coordinated both the name and the side-strips in chrome finish, because I did not like the previous white and orange colours very much.“
BBQ wheelchair
Martin, 38, from Surberg was practical when he pimped up his wheelchair: “I live in a house out in the country, the garage is on the north side, the patio on the south side. How can you use a wheelchair to take the BBQ from the garage to the patio and back again? The solution: I screwed a standard pedestal grill column onto an old wheelchair and had the solution to my problem. My slogan for it: Quality for life – this gives meals on wheels a whole new meaning.”
Dark wheelchair
Andreas, 41, from Karlsruhe was inspired by two popular Fantasy artists for his mystical, romantic wheelchair embellishments: “The airbrush motives are by H.R. Giger and Royo. Since I am hanging around the Goth Scene, my wheel chair also had to be styled that way. My wheelchair even has dark brushed spoke protectors. “
