Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy is the latest pro-golfer to lend his support to Golfability, a national golf tournament in aid of the charity Leonard Cheshire Disability.
Golf clubs across the UK are invited to join the charity by setting aside one Stableford competition day between April and July 2010 for Leonard Cheshire Disability, participating clubs will receive a host of benefits for their members.
Currently 3rd in The Race to Dubai Rankings, Rory says: “Ask your club to sign up to Golfability and help raise much-needed funds for the charity Leonard Cheshire Disability. With your support many thousands of disabled people will continue to benefit from the vital services that they provide, in your community and beyond.”
The tournament is open to both men and women, and players of all levels. In return for a small donation, players will have the chance to compete in the final tournament at the Forest of Arden’s Arden course, Warwickshire in Autumn 2010. And they will be entered in a prize draw for the chance to win a fantastic range of prizes including luxurious golfing breaks and some great kit.
This national initiative is also endorsed by professional golfers David Howell and Louis Oosthuizen. David, 33, who has won four European tour titles, says: “If you enjoy the game of golf, there is no better way to raise funds for charity than getting out for some friendly competition on the course. Ask your club to sign up to Golfability and help raise funds for Leonard Cheshire Disability.”
Louis, 26, who is 54th in the Official World Ranking, says: “I’m supporting Leonard Cheshire Disability’s charity golf competition, Golfability. Ask your club to sign up and take part, to help raise funds for the charity’s work supporting tens of thousands of disabled people in the UK.”
By taking part in Golfability, clubs and players will be raising much-needed funds to help Leonard Cheshire Disability continue its work with disabled people in communities across the UK.
