Job Offers: Cultural Development & Health Info Officer
The Deaf Association of Northern Ireland is seeking to recruit two enthusiastic and highly organised individuals for our Cultural Development and Health Information Projects funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
Both are full time jobs, that is 36 hours per week. And for both jobs £17,000 (Fixed Term Three-Year Contract) each will be paid.
Responsibilities will include the development of Sign Language cultural resources and cultural events to promote British Sign Language (BSL)/Irish Sign Language (ISL) throughout Northern Ireland. To promote the British Deaf Association Academy and Institute of BSL/ISL within the local Deaf Community, mainstream education services and organisations. To develop training for local Tutors and Assessors using the Academy's Curriculum. To organise Sign Language classes using registered Tutors and Assessors.
Responsibilities of the health information officer will be to work directly with the Deaf Community to identify gaps in Health Information. To develop Health Information resources to ensure information is accessible to people who use Sign Language. To organise Health Information sessions for Deaf and Sign Community. To liase and consult with the Health Professionals to identify Health Promotion Training needs. To establish new and develop existing networking relationships to promote this project.
Both successful candidates will have an excellent working knowledge of all aspects of Deaf Issues and experience of working closely with local Deaf Community. Candidates should have experience of managing projects, budgets and reporting back to the funding body.
