Which is the fairest one of all? In the contest “Pimp my Wheelchair”, REHACARE.de has searched for the coolest wheelchair in Germany. We received many great ideas and chose three finalists. Now it is your turn to decide who is going to win. Vote your favourite one until 30 September.

The winner will be announced in October. The prize - an activity holiday week in an accessible hotel in Bad Bevensen, Germany – will be handed over at REHACARE 2009 taking place from 14 till 17 October in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Below, the three finalists are presented with a short explanation why they pimped their wheelchair.

At the end of the page you can choose your favourite one per mouse click.

Wheelchair 1

Mercedes hubcaps and a British and Scottish flag

Juliane, 23, from Nünchritz, Germany, is a big auto racing fan: “I am fascinated by high speed since I do not have enough power myself to reach such a tempo. I am especially enthusiastic about the Mercedes-Benz and so I decided to get hubcaps installed at my wheels. My father put it into practice before my first visit at the German Touring Care Championships in 2005. Ever since that day I am cruising around with my “Benz”.

Wheelchair 2

Front of a bike, drink holder, tail lamp and Wacken symbol

Volkan from Herne loves visiting rock concerts: „The highlight for me and my brother is the annual Wacken festival. Since an accident at work two years ago when I fell of a roof I have been using a wheelchair. I thought I could not go to the festival again. However, my brother and I had the idea to pimp a wheelchair so that I could freely move on the festival terrain without problems. Sometimes I attracted more attention than the bands. It was an unforgettable event for me.”

Wheelchair 3

Silver and gold frame with elaborated rims with 140 spokes

Ben, 27, from Ingersheim likes it elegant: “I wanted to build an elegant, sporty and safe wheelchair. All metallic accessories are mirror-polished and all screws are gold anodized. The wheels are 26” Beachcruiser Wheels I reconstructed on my own. They are also gold anodized and have 140 spokes each rim. Under the seat there are LEDs at the front which can be turned on and off.”
