REHACARE.de: What makes you get up in the morning?
Jens Merkel: All the things that are fun and that make me feel good.

REHACARE.de: What is your favorite place and why?
Jens Merkel: My favorite place is usually the one where I can relax. That’s where my soul can take a break.

REHACARE.de: Who or what impresses you?
Jens Merkel: People who accomplish things that I would never be able to achieve in my life.

REHACARE.de: What is your most valuable possession?
Jens Merkel: My well being.

REHACARE.de: What are you fed up with?
Jens Merkel: Government offices and people who think they have to constantly put obstacles in other people’s way, even if they know they are violating valid laws.

REHACARE.de: What makes you relax the most?
Jens Merkel: Summer is my best time to relax: Enjoying the sunshine, reading an interesting book.

REHACARE.de: What makes you happy?
Jens Merkel: When I finally accomplish things that I planned to get done for a long time, but which I postponed for fear of making mistakes.

REHACARE.de: Is there something you should throw away, but won’t?
Jens Merkel: No.

REHACARE.de: Name three things that make for a fulfilled life!
Jens Merkel: To have true friends. To initiate things which enable others to be happy. To know that I lived in a way that always made me happy.

Jens Merkel: Unfortunately, I can’t really remember.

REHACARE.de: What questions would you like to know the answer to?
Jens Merkel: When will people with disabilities in Germany be able to live just like people without disabilities?

REHACARE.de: When was the last time you felt like hiding from something?
Jens Merkel: I can’t remember anymore.

REHACARE.de: What makes a person rich?
Jens Merkel: When he has become a true friend.

REHACARE.de: What is your philosophy of life?
Jens Merkel: Live every day like it could be your last.
