REHACARE International 2003 – Special Shows, Focal Points, Ideas for your Visit

The number of people with special needs and in need of care Europe-wide is estimated at 20 million. REHACARE International takes the concerns of these people on board and today ranks as Europe's No. 1 trade fair for the rehabilitation and care market. It is also the premier political voice for people with special needs.

Some 800 exhibitors hailing from 25 countries are expected to participate in the event staged across 70,000 m2 of exhibition space in Halls 3 to 8 of the Düsseldorf Trade Fair Center. Making its debut at REHACare Düsseldorf will be a joint stand with ten exhibitors representing Japan. What’s more Taiwan, the USA, Denmark, Italy and France have also confirmed their participation.

A new focal area of this year's REHACare will be premiering in Hall 4 with the presentation “Barrier-free planning, building, living”. Using show houses, exhibitors will demonstrate how homes can be planned and fitted to accommodate the special needs of the disabled.

The Care Competence Center in Hall 4 will unveil the latest in the field of care - through workshops, lectures and discussions. Disabled children are the subject of a special presentation organised in collaboration with the Gemeinschaft Reha-Kind.

A key area at this year’s REHACare will be aids for the blind and visually impaired. The wide range on offer in Hall 5 not only covers optical aids and Braille keyboards but also innovations in the field of image recognition.

Hall 6 of REHACare 2003 comes under the banner of mobility. The Travel Center there will provide information on the myriad of options available in disabled-friendly travel. In the immediate vicinity, the “Pro Mobil Center” will feature exhibitors from the automobile industry, including suppliers and remodellers that will showcase vehicles and accoutrements specially designed for the disabled. As a new service, the new vehicles can be tested on a driving track in the open-air area behind Hall 6.

REHACare’s central discussion and information platform, the Café Forum will also make its home in Hall 6. Among the issues to be discussed will be the outcome of the first “European Year of People with Disabilities”.

The latest issue of last year’s successfully introduced show for innovations from all fields of rehabilitation and care will be located at the entrance of Hall 8.

Also in Hall 3 the initiative “Riss durchs Leben” (lives torn in two) will present rehabilitation and care homes and institutions specially suited to those with acquired brain damage.

Hall 7 is again dedicated entirely to sport for the disabled.
