One for all and all for one! - this musketeer's motto is known by everyone. Design for all - with this guideline few are familiar, but it is getting more and more important for designers and technicians.

That's why the European Commission has announced a European wide competition in 2004 in order to support two concepts - Design for All and Assistive Technology.

It could be so easy to cut a piece of paper with a pair of scissors. As long as you are right-handed. If you are left-handed and you try it with a pair of standard scissors it is quite a challenge since they are normally designed for right hander. Examples for successful solutions are presented by the winners of the Design for All Award.

Assistive devices still play an important role in order to improve handicapped people's lifestyles. The Assistive Technology (AT)-Award is supposed to encourage the industry to develop innovations and solutions fort his area. Just like the following winners of the award have done in 2004.
