Topic of the Month February: Alternative Therapies

Before being part of academic medicine, therapies need to prove themselves in scientific terms. Otherwise health insurances do not take over the costs. These sometimes hard to measure effects are missing with some treatments. Even though participants often report a subjective positive influence. Two of these alternative therapie are introduced in our Topic of the Month at REHACARE.de.

It is a bit like a fairy tale. Soft seats, a huge waterbed, fairy lights dance across the walls, a see-through column with water bubbles. And everything in plain white. On top of that some relaxing music. But instead of Sleeping Beauty snoring away for a hundred years, snoezelen takes place here.

The dolphin and the horse are joined by a third one: a dog. But it is not just any dog - it is a landseer - large, strong, wispy, black and white. Like the others, this animal is also supposed to help handicapped children to achieve more vitality and self confidence.
