History of the enterprise

From Haas & Alber to Ulrich Alber GmbH to AAT Alber Antriebstechnik GmbH

Based on the ordinary work routines of a traditional business selling and installing electrical appliances, and heating systems the proprietor Ulrich Alber recognized that his personnel should be relieved from carrying heavy loads while doing more useful and efficient work elsewhere.

The new company, Ulrich Alber GmbH, was founded when the first CargoMaster was built. CargoMaster is a motorized stair-climber to transport loads. The idea of the CargoMaster is the concrete answer to a practical need and its realization filled precisely that need.

Presenting their new device at trade shows, fairs and other occasions, the representatives of the company Ulrich Alber GmbH were frequently asked for a climbing system for wheelchairs. Ulrich Alber accepted this challenge. It resulted in the development of a special device to transport wheelchairs up and down stairs which became know worldwide under the name of scalamobil.

In the following years Mr. Ulrich Alber and his team also developed the e-fix, one of the first foldable powered wheelchairs on the market.

In 1995 Ulrich Alber GmbH was sold to Triumph Adler AG, while AAT Alber Antriebstechnik GmbH was founded in Albstadt by his two sons. At that time AAT Alber Antriebstechnik GmbH only sold the product CargoMaster, while the company's development department worked on the pushing aid viamobil. Once finished it was sold to Ulrich Alber GmbH+Co. KG as a subsidiary of the Triumph Adler Group. The next project was the hub engine powered emotion, almost entirely developed at AAT, then sold to Ulrich Alber GmbH+Co. KG as well.

In 2001 the company AAT Alber Antriebstechnik introduced the stair climbing devices c-max and s-max which feature entirely new climbing systems.

These new products are sold by AAT's own distribution system.

In October of 2003 the novel pushing and braking aid v-max for wheelchair drivers and their attendants was introduced. One year later followed the add-on power drive for manual wheelchairs called max-e.

2007 AAT enlarged the product portfolio with the stairclimber escalino.

At the Rehacare 2008 AAT showed the new pushing and braking aid movilino. Two years later, also at the Rehacare, the v-max+ , the reinforced version of the v-max.

For this year AAT has intended to do a lot. 2012 we want to introduce for the first time at the Rehacare our new add-on drive SOLO and new power assist for wheelchairs – SERVO.

In both power units the new developed ALPHA concept will be used. The ALPHA concept stands for a combination of highly contemporary, powerful motors and a complete new developed lithium-ion battery pack. Based on this the range of the SOLO is up to 35 km at a total weight of the battery pack of only 4.2 kg.

Also new in 2012 is our stairlifter system PLANEO and a combination of a self-driver - pushing and braking aid, named max 2.

As always the central idea behind this outstanding technology is to help people.
