Whether expeditions in foreign countries or action sports – Daniel Schließmann can get enthusiastic about many things. What matters the most to him in this context is to share such experiences and to make them possible for everybody. If he is oriented towards idols for this and what a nature reserve has to do with it, he tells us on REHACARE.com.
Daniel Schließmann: There are a lot of funny situations in my life again and again. But most of the time I forget them because of all the action in my life.
What have you always been wanting to do and why have you never done this so far?
Daniel Schließmann: There are still things I haven’t done yet. But fear was not the reason in most cases. I like traveling to faraway places, but I still have the dream to rebuild a VW bus into a drivable hut and to go on a trip through the south of Europe.
Which person has influenced you most?
Daniel Schließmann: I do not really stick to idols. My deepest respect goes to people who are unconditionally honest and who stand up for their values – even if they have disadvantages from it. My mentor from a research trip in tropical regions was quite close to this…
You have the chance to become the German Federal Commissioner for the Disabled. What would you do first?
Daniel Schließmann: Starting help and training programs for countries where the lack of infrastructure extremely limits the mobility of people with disabilities. And of course I would support sports and accessible traveling! Going abroad and experiencing nature should be possible for everybody.
