The Lymed Sense 3D supporting garments made by Lymed Oy, from Tampere Finland, won the SMB category of Quality Innovation of the Year 2013 award organized by Laatukeskus Excellence Finland. Lymed’s hand-made techno-medical garments are made for sensory integration disorder and used on athletes and animals. The criteria was a high level of innovation and utmost quality of the product.
After seven years the Quality Innovation of the Year has progressed to be internationally renowned competition, held this time in Stockholm. The speaker of the Swedish parliament, Mr Per Westerberg, gave Lymed its honorary plaque signed by The President of the Republic of Finland, Mr Sauli Niinistö on the 20th of January, 2014. The purpose of the competition is to increase the amount and level of innovations in all of its attending six countries (Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Latvia, Hungary and Czech Republic). Previous winners of the said award have been e.g. Metsä Fiber Oy, Ruukki Metals Oy, Digia Oy and Rovio Entertainment Oy.
"The Quality Innovation of the Year Award is an exquisite acknowledgement to our day-to-day work that we do to improve the quality of life of both people and animals. We take this as an incentive and a tribute towards the Finnish textile industry and knowledge," says CEO of the company, Mrs Teija Toikka.
The innovation of the Sense product line is that it can be used to profoundly affect the wellbeing of a person so much so that there is a chance to decrease medication and their side effects in cases of sensory integration disorders. Chronic pain disorders (CRPS) can be treated with Sense products and further the societal functioning as well as the able to function in everyday life. One of the key focus groups of Lymed Sport has been parathletes who can now have a chance to benefit from the positive effects of pressure treatment with individual Lymed Sense products.
Lymed 3D Sense Sport and Animal product groups have been developed after positive feedback from previous studies. The connection with sensory integration activation and unique pressure treatment has never been done before in these categories.
