Agnes Gebler- That's how she rolls

Those who are open-minded and interested in other people – also in those who are different – have less prejudices. That’s at least what Agnes Gebler thinks. But she also understands first fears of contact. What matters to her is the willingness to approach to others. What else is important to her and which questions she would like to be answered, she tells us on REHACARE.com.

When did you last laugh heartily and what about?

Agnes Gebler: Two weeks ago. When listening to the audio book "Der Fönig" from Walter Moers, read by Dirk Bach. You have to laugh when listening to this. I really recommend this one!

What have you always been wanting to do and why have you never done this so far?

Agnes Gebler: I always wanted to know what it feels like to drive a car. But due to the fact that I have some orientation problems and sometimes panic, I will never know this, I guess. I did not really want to make a driver's licence - because of the reasons I already mentioned. But simply driving on a practice area - that would be really nice.

Which person has influenced you most?

Agnes Gebler: Many people have influenced me. But there is one person who influenced me maybe the most: a very good friend from my workplace. I owe him a lot and he is always there for me.

You have the chance to become the German Federal Commissioner for the Disabled. What would you do first?

Agnes Gebler: First of all I would inform myself what kind of wishes and needs disabled people have. Then I could continue where my predecessor stopped or I could start new things.

Your life is made into a film: Who would represent you?

Agnes Gebler: Gabrielle Marion Rivard. She is an actress and plays the leading role in "Gabrielle" from 2013. She has the same disability like I have. If you look at me and see her as well, we also look a bit like each other. That's why I think she would be best for representing me.

Which questions would you like answered the most?

Agnes Gebler: The questions I (and many others) would like to be answered the most are questions to a special person who is no longer here with us. But there are also other questions that are hard to answer. Questions about war in the world. Questions about rating and prejudices. Questions about behaving towards refugees and so on.
