Andrea Schütt – That's how she rolls

What makes you laugh?

Andrea Schütt My occupational therapist and I laugh a lot and often, among other things when my ataxia/tremor boycott exercises and these turn out differently than they should. My two cats who often make me laugh with their actions.

What have you always been wanting to do and why have you never done this so far?

Andrea Schütt: I've always been tempted by the 10-meter board in the pool. But my fear of heights always kept me from jumping down. I get sick when I'm standing on the edge of the carpet. Then 10 meters are unbridgeable.

Which person has influenced you most? And why?

Andrea Schütt: In my life I have met many people who have certainly influenced me. Nevertheless, I think that the sum of experiences – positive or negative – and the encounters you make in your life make you the person you are. And what you make of this sum yourself. As hackneyed as it may sound, I think everyone is the blacksmith of their own happiness.

You have the chance to become the Commissioner for the Disabled. What would you do first?

Andrea Schütt: Create affordable accessible living space.

Andrea Schütt: Encounter at eye level, as I experience it every year at the Wacken Open Air. Because at the W:O:A all metalheads are the same – no matter if big, small, fat or thin, no matter which origin or with or without a disability. We meet at eye level, which is not always a matter of course as people with disabilities – at Wacken we do. That's what I wish for in everyday life.

Andrea Schütt: I think, even if I could slip into someone else's skin, I would be happy to return to my own. ;-)

Which question would you like answered the most?

Andrea Schütt: When will humankind finally wake up and stop overexploiting the environment?

Andrea Schütt: An important maxim my father gave me on the way: Humour is when you laugh anyway. That often helps me even in difficult situations.
