Because of the fact that Anna Siuda is deaf, many people think she is not capable of doing several things. But she tries not to let herself be pulled down and campaigns for accessibility for everybody. What kind of dreams she has and what kind of advice she gives other people, she tells us on REHACARE.com.

When did you last laugh heartily and what about?

Anna Siuda: We talked in German Sign Language and laughed. Other people joined us laughing and tried to understand me and to communicate with me.

What have you always been wanting to do and why have you never done this so far?

Anna Siuda: I always wanted another job, but it doesn't work because I'm deaf. But as a hobby I like reading books about medicine. Other people say: "I don't think you can do this." They think it doesn't make any sense because I'm deaf.

Which person has influenced you most?

Anna Siuda: Pity because of disability, no respect for people - I do not like this! Empathy is so important for us.

You have the chance to become the German Federal Commissioner for the Disabled. What would you do first?

Anna Siuda: For people with an hearing impairment like I am, accessibility is important. Wheelchair users wake up, also deaf people need accessibility to be understood. This has to be improved.

Your life is made into a film: Who would represent you?

Anna Siuda: I'm quite shy. But maybe she should look good. And not make me sound like a fool when she talks.

I would like to ...

Anna Siuda: study medicine - but it won't work because I'm deaf and have an impaired cognition. But this would be my dream.

Which questions would you like answered the most?

Anna Siuda: If you would like to ask me something, I could not talk because I'm deaf. But facial expression and gestures works well.

What I finally want to say...

Anna Siuda: Think positive, stay strong and be proud. I am the way I am.
