The United Kingdom’s strength in design and innovation in healthcare is set to be one of the main attractions at the world’s largest assistive technologies and rehabilitation exhibition.
18 UK companies which are at the cutting-edge of the assistive technologies industry will be exhibiting their products on the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) sponsored Pavilion at REHACARE 2013 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The exhibition, which is regarded as the most important trade fair in the world for rehabilitation, prevention, integration and care, will take place from 25-28 September at Messe Düsseldorf and is expected to attract more than 50,000 visitors.
REHACARE is seen as the ideal stepping stone for companies looking to expand globally and to meet potential new partners, with large numbers of distributors, purchasing authorities and end-users present at the show.
UKTI – through the British Consulate in Düsseldorf – will be proactively working to support UK companies wanting to access the rehabilitation market, with the assistance of Medilink UK, the organisation dedicated to the growth of the Healthcare Technologies and Life Sciences sector.
The global market for assistive equipment for people with a disability has been growing over the past decade, driven by the ageing populations of the advanced economies and some developing countries.
Susan Speller, British Consul General in Düsseldorf, said: “With the world’s population continuing to both expand and age at a rapid rate, the demand for rehabilitative and assistive technology is set to increase exponentially in the future.
“Recognising the changing healthcare needs of an ageing global society, industry is adapting to meet these healthcare needs - with the UK leading the way.
“REHACARE is an ideal platform for UK companies from the assistive technology industry to showcase their innovations. This year we have 18 companies on the Pavilion as part of a wider UK presence and we hope that visitors find the opportunity to see for themselves why so many UK companies are at the cutting edge of this growing market.”
The UK companies design and manufacture a wide range of technologies. One of the main attractions at the exhibition will be Platinum Stairlifts, who will announce a multiple launch of new stairlift products to the European market at the exhibition.
Mark McNulty, Sales Director at Platinum Stairlifts, said: “This is one of the biggest product launches in the history of the company and we’re very excited to be hosting it at Rehacare on the UK Pavilion.
“We take great pride in of our capacity to quickly deliver high quality, environmentally friendly stairlifts which are bespoke to the end-user, and we’re now looking forward to showcasing our newest products to the European market.”
