Diving through the worldwide most beautiful coral reefs and roaming the rainforests as a jaguar – that is what Björn Reinsch dreams of. For which reason he does not feel ready for the first option, why he calls himself a "colorful mix" and how he otherwise rolls, he tells us on REHACARE.com.
Name: Björn Reinsch Age: 35 City: Düsseldorf, Germany Occupation: Social worker and social pedagogue Impairment: Spina bifida
Björn Reinsch: There are quite a lot of things, but above all I can hardly stop laughing when it comes to slapstick films, such as "Hot Shots" or the film series "The Naked Gun". But it is the actual, everyday standard situation that is distorted into the comic in such a way that it seems almost anarchic. I like that.
What have you always been wanting to do and why have you never done this so far? Björn Reinsch: Diving in the most beautiful coral reefs on earth, such as the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and the Raja Ampat Archipelago in Indonesia. I have not yet dared to go there because I still lack the mental balance for the depth and breadth of the ocean.
Which person has influenced you most? And why? Björn Reinsch: It is impossible for me to name only one person. Every person I have met and spent time with has influenced me in some way and continues to do so. I feel like a colorful mix of all these encounters.
You have the chance to become the Commissioner for the Disabled. What would you do first? Björn Reinsch: I have no plan. That's why I would like to first ask those I represent – the disabled people – what they need from me and what they want from me. Based on their answers, wishes and suggestions I would build my work. But what I would know already now is that there would be a lot to do.
What is especially near and dear to you? Björn Reinsch: All those people who are in my heart.
I would like to be ... Björn Reinsch: ...a jaguar roaming the rainforests of South America. I am fascinated by cats of prey, as well as the diverse and mystical rainforests of this earth.
Which question would you like to be answered the most? Björn Reinsch: I am very interested in the answers to scientific and socio-political questions: Are we alone in the universe? How did all this come about? Where are humanity and the various societies heading – in terms of inclusion, migration, nature conservation, climate crisis? Will sustainable and above all humane concepts be found for this social challenge?
What I still wanted to say... Björn Reinsch: You cannot reach the new world without leaving the safe haven.
