Udo Sist would like to live in a tolerant society which faces and obstructs every intolerance and discrimination. But he knows that there are still many intolerant people he has to explain to "that we all are just human beings". He tells us on REHACARE.com which further experiences he made with people as well as the media and who is one of his best friends.
Name: Udo Sist Age: 28 City: Potsdam Occupation: Chairperson of the Normalo TV association Impairment: I’m using a wheelchair since birth (spastic tetraparesis)
Udo Sist: I always laugh heartily when the media report about people with disabilities and I can easily tell that they do not have a clue what it is like to live with impairment.
What have you always been wanting to do and why have you never done this so far?
Udo Sist: My motto is: Do everything you ever wanted to do and don’t give fear a chance. You only live once.
Which person has influenced you most?
Udo Sist: This definitely has to be my father because he does not let himself be stopped by any obstacles. I admit: He is a little bit mad. But it doesn’t bother me.
You have the chance to become the German Federal Commissioner for the Disabled. What would you do first?
Udo Sist: What shall I do without the right competences?!
Your life is made into a film: Who would represent you?
Udo Sist: Definitely the German actor Til Schweiger, because he did a very good job playing a wheelchair user in "Wo ist Fred" ("Where is Fred")
I would like to be ...
Udo Sist: a mountain climber.
Which questions would you like answered the most?
Udo Sist: Why are people the way they are? Why aren’t they different?
What I finally want to say...
Udo Sist: I am not wheelchair-bound. I also do not cope with my life or suffer from my disability. My wheelchair is one of my best friends and together we enjoy life.
