The diagnosis Multiple Sclerosis (MS) does not mean that life is now less worth living. Katarina B. does not only have this opinion, she herself is also the best example for it. With her blog she wants to encourage people and give them hope. What everyday life looks like for her and which people influence her, she tells us on REHACARE.com.
Katarina B.: Some days ago when my husband did the balance test for me on the Nintendo Wii. And when were watching old childhood videos.
What have you always been wanting to do and why have you never done this so far?
Katarina B.: Having trust in fate in difficult situations and knowing that I do not have to control and understand everything.
Which person has influenced you most?
Katarina B.: I am very lucky to have several important people in my life. So I cannot choose just one.
Friend C. – I know her since I was 13. We have so much in common, she speaks as fast as I do, she understands my control mania and she is sometimes as confused and nervous as I am. We have survived puperty together and helped each other with important decisions – we are some kind of soul mates.
My husband who I met when I was 20. We married 11 years ago. With his help I still get to know myself anew.
Friend D. – I met her at the office and it was love at first sight. We call each other every day, we go on city trips together. We understand each other only by eye contact. She makes me calm down.
My brother who always has a honest opinion – no matter how inconvenient it might get.
My two sons who have changed my life on all levels.
You have the chance to become the German Federal Commissioner for the Disabled. What would you do first?
Katarina B.: Making it more attractive for companies to offer part time jobs for people with disabilities. And I would make sure that a disability or illness is no longer a stigma in professional life, but will be seen as a chance for other perspectives.
Your life is made into a film: Who would represent you?
Katarina B.: Again, I cannot choose only one – maybe Mila Kunis, Kate Hudson and Charlize Theron. They are humoristic and strong women.
I would like to be ...
Katarina B.: grown up.
Which questions would you like answered the most?
Katarina B.: How does MS emerge? What kind of person will my sons be in ten or twenty years?
What I finally want to say...
Katarina B.: Don’t ever let yourself get down by anybody. See a new challenge in every setback.
