Lydia Zoubek - That's how she rolls

Lydia Zoubek wishes for a better acceptance of people with disabilities in our society. In order to give an insight into her life as a blind woman, the mother and housewife blogs about her everyday life. When did you last laugh heartily and what about?

Lydia Zoubek: Yesterday, when our cat was fighting with the neighbor’s cat. Both went so crazy and jumped against the terrace door. Fortunately it was closed.

What have you always been wanting to do and why have you never done this so far?

Lydia Zoubek: I would like to go abroad with my children for a couple of weeks. It used to be that I could not find a companion, and now that my children are older, the money is missing.

Which person has influenced you most?

Lydia Zoubek: I cannot really say this. On my way, different people have inspired me.

You have the chance to become the German Federal Commissioner for the Disabled. What would you do first?

Lydia Zoubek: I would do everything to involve more people with disabilities in decisions that have to be made.

Lydia Zoubek: Busted! I don’t know anything at all about actors.

Which questions would you like answered the most?

Lydia Zoubek: Why is seeing so often overestimated so that many think that blind people are hardly capable of doing and achieving something.

What I finally want to say...

Lydia Zoubek: A better co-operation can only be achieved through enlightenment. On my blog "lydiaswelt" I write about my everyday life as a blind mother. I try to answer questions that normal-looking people do not want to ask a blind person, because they don’t want to the person’s feelings. The topics range from "How do blind people recognize money" to "How to lead a blind person".
