UK companies set to impress at world’s largest assistive technologies fair

An iPhone app, a robotic arm and state-of-the-art mobility equipment are just three products set to take the world by storm next week when assistive technology companies from across the UK exhibit at REHACARE 2011.

Taking place in Düsseldorf, Germany from 21-24 September 2011, REHACARE is the leading exhibition for rehabilitation, prevention, integration and care and offers UK companies a global platform to showcase their cutting-edge products and innovative technologies.

Every year the UK Pavilion is organised by Medilink Yorkshire and Humber (Y&H), the organisation dedicated to the growth of the Healthcare Technologies Sector, and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).

Peter Wheeler, Senior International Coordinator at Medilink Yorkshire & Humber, and UKTI Sector Specialist, said:

“It is not surprising that so many UK companies within this sector want to exhibit at REHACARE. Attracting over 50, 000 visitors annually, it is the ideal stepping stone for companies looking to expand globally and the perfect opportunity to meet new partners, with large numbers of distributors, purchasing authorities and end-users attending the show.”

With over twenty UK companies exhibiting at the event there are number of world leading innovations set to impress.

Being launched at the show is Dynamic Control’s pioneering iPhone app which gives wheelchair users the freedom to access the online world through their wheelchair controls.

iPortal Accessibility is Dynamic Control's latest solution to help enhance the quality of life of people living with a disability; allowing people with limited or no hand control to easily make phone calls, surf the internet, plan routes, and have full access to the online world.

Charlotte Walshe, CEO of Dynamic Controls, said: “We have combined the latest technology with our tried and tested wheelchair control units. iPortal provides wheelchair users with a wealth of information about their wheelchair and the world.”

“The customer is always at the heart of all our innovations and our aim is to enable users to lead a full and active part in society, so we are looking forward to showcasing our ground-breaking innovations at REHACARE 2011 and speaking to potential business partners around the world.”

Already benefiting thousands of people around the world, Touch Bionics will also be present, sharing their groundbreaking prosthetic devices which help amputees and others with upper limb disabilities achieve improved confidence and independence in their daily lives, creating the world’s first powered prosthetic hand with five articulating digits.

Rehacare will allow the company to gain feedback from end users and expand their global reach.

The REHACARE exhbition will take place from 21-24 September in Dusseldorf, Germany.
