Smart living

Dear Sir or Madam,

TV has long been smart and offers more than just TV channels. In addition, you can order an article online via your smartphone or exchange information with friends on a social media platform of your choice. A tablet is used to regulate the temperature in the bathroom, and when you're sitting in the bathtub, Alexa can play the right music by voice command. Read in our Topic of the Month January why user acceptance is important in the field of smart home applications and how Ambient Assisted Living helps us to lead a self-determined life.

Have a self-determined week,

Anne Hofmann

Felix Brückner – That's how he rolls

How we roll

Felix Brückner is a wheelchair user – so far, so (at least theoretically) unspectacular. Nevertheless, the man from Hamburg stands out. Most of the audience of a concert have never seen a frontman in a wheelchair. The musician wants to change that with his buddies Jens, Tobi and Justus. Why mirror images play a role and what he would like to change in society, he tells us on REHACARE.com.

In addition to structural issues, the question of digital accessibility is becoming an increasingly important topic. Problems such as the protection of privacy or questions of usability are not only occupying the manufacturers of smart home products, but also researchers in the field of Ambient Assisted Living. You can find out exactly what all this means in our Topic of the Month.
