Traveling is her passion: Simone Lai loves to explore the world. That this is also possible as a whellchair user is what she reports on her blog. And she doesn't mince her words! What kind of travel she still has problems with and how she rolls, she tells us on REHACARE.com.
Name: Simone Lai Age: 27 City: Stuttgart, Germany Occupation: Student/Blogger Impairment: Wheelchair user
Simone Lai: Quite a lot, since I always laugh very quickly by nature. But you always get me with economy jokes.
What have you always been wanting to do and why have you never done this so far?
Simone Lai: I'd love to skydive once, but I've never had the chance.
Which person has influenced you most? And why?
Simone Lai: My whole environment influences me. But I have such a supportive environment that I am only positively influenced.
You have the chance to become the Commissioner for the Disabled. What would you do first?
Simone Lai: Adapt the Federal Participation Law. The law is good in itself, and fortunately it is always improved. But I think, if someone earns money, then he/she should be allowed to keep it. Maybe one could deduct a percentage of the salary for the support from the state. Then a person with a disability would not be totally restricted and could still save for the future.
What is especially near and dear to you?
Simone Lai: The development of a accessible environment, because then there would be no more barriers and I could experience much more of the world ;D And of course my family and friends who always support me.
I would like to be...
Simone Lai: ... traveled around the world one day.
Which question would you like answered the most?
Simone Lai: Why does rail travel in a wheelchair have to be so complicated?
What else I wanted to say...
Simone Lai: Don't let a disability hold you back - you can still experience a lot!
