"Smart technology opportunities can make it easier to live a self-determined life"

Controlling an electric wheelchair by using smart glasses? Smart glasses like munevo Drive make this a reality. Visitors have a chance to check them out in person at this year’s REHACARE trade fair. Konstantin Madaus from the startup company Munevo looks back on the previous trade show presence and invites everyone to join him at his company’s booth again this year.

Mr. Madaus, last year marked the first time Munevo showcased as a startup at REHACARE with munevo Drive - which was named GLASSCHAIR back then. What has your experience been at this event?

Konstantin Madaus: We were able to present our young startup project and our previous prototype. This gave us the chance to get in touch with many wonderful people from the industry and exchange ideas. That’s why the REHACARE trade fair was the perfect venue for us. We were able to showcase what we are developing and where we stand, while we were also able to get feedback on how we are received at the same time.

To what extent did you receive on-site feedback from people with disabilities and other industry representatives?

Madaus: Last year we presented our new prototype. Needless to say, it still had a few quirks back then, yet we still received amazing and positive feedback from people with disabilities, medical supply stores, health insurance companies and many others. Inspired by the feedback from our conversations and a renewed motivation that our invention is indeed able to support many people in living a more self-determined life, we have made further improvements to where our development is almost ready for the market. We plan to market and sell it in Germany later this year.

You will showcase again at this year’s trade fair. What can visitors expect to see at your booth?

Madaus: We are very excited to be an exhibitor at REHACARE for a second time. We will once again have an electric wheelchair on the premises. Visitors will be able to control it via smart glasses and head movements when they visit our booth.

Unlike last year, we will now showcase under the name of our newly launched company Munevo and hope to see many familiar faces at our booth.

What does inclusion mean to you?

Madaus: To us, inclusion means that all people can live a self-determined life and are offered equal opportunities to make this a reality. The opportunities that smart technologies offer and that were previously denied to people with disabilities can make it easier to live a self-determined life. That's our goal.
