"Can't be done, doesn't exist" – Sonja Böckmann admires people with this attitude. In her opinion, no one should be disadvantaged due to illness or disability. Therefore, she herself also supports people and animals who need help. What she has always wanted to do and how she otherwise rolls, she tells us on REHACARE.com.
Name: Sonja Böckmann Age: 46 City: Rosbach vor der Höhe, Germany Occupation: Commercial employee / EU pensioner Impairment: I myself suffer from the rare and neurological spinal cord disease syringomyelia and I'm active as a self-help activist and book author.
Sonja Böckmann: This happens quite quickly, sometimes too quickly. I'm a very emotional person and I don't go down to the basement to laugh.
What have you always been wanting to do and why have you never done this so far?
Sonja Böckmann: A cruise to Norway or Sweden has always been my dream. Due to my illness, I am unfortunately no longer able to do this because of my health.
Which person has influenced you most? And why?
Sonja Böckmann: I am impressed by people who live according to the motto "Can't be done, doesn't exist" and who stand up for weaker people. There is always a possibility for a solution, if you are really motivated to look for it. To name only one special person would be unfair to the other people who mean something to me.
You have the chance to become the Commissioner for the Disabled. What would you do first?
Sonja Böckmann: To get a quick appointment with the Ministry of Health.
What is especially near and dear to you?
Sonja Böckmann: I like to help people who are disadvantaged by their impairment and need support with official and medical issues. Otherwise I try to get involved in animal protection according to my possibilities.
I would like to be ...
Sonja Böckmann: For one day in the control center of the German emergency number 112.
Which question would you like to be answered the most?
Sonja Böckmann: Why don't we humans manage to work together for better climate protection and a cleaner world? The same applies to a fair and friendly treatment of people, detached from financial interests and intrigues.
What I still wanted to say...
Sonja Böckmann: I would simply like to thank all those people who are fully committed to the welfare of other people every day.
