Timur Oruz – That's how he rolls

Family man, national hockey player and medical student - all this is Timur Oruz. Determined and ambitious are also appropriate descriptions. The 23-year-old was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of six. But he would not let it slow him down. Why diabetes also has potential for him and what his first official action as Commissioner for the Disabled would be, he tells us at REHACARE.com.

What makes you laugh?

Timur Oruz: Fortunately quite a lot of things.

What have you always been wanting to do and why have you never done this so far?

Timur Oruz: That's a good question.

Which person has influenced you most? And why?

Timur Oruz: My whole family because they are the most important to me. Some of my coaches because with some of them I spent more time than with my family. My diabetes because it is a part of my life.

You have the chance to become the Commissioner for the Disabled in your country. What would you do first?

Timur Oruz: I would fire all employees and put together my own competent team out of people with disabilities and then turn at almost every screw.

Timur Oruz: To show other diabetics that this disease is by no means a restriction, but rather has a lot of potential in it.
