FutureSafe 2.0: The new head and backrest for vehicles
10.05.2023
A road accident without additional support in the head and back area can be very dangerous for a wheelchair occupant. To offer this passenger group the highest level of safety, we launched the patented and crash-tested head and backrest FutureSafe more than 10 years ago.
Safety in road traffic is a top priority. FutureSafe 2.0 is designed to ensure safety while offering comfort for wheelchair users.
Since the beginning of 2023, there is a new, revised version of the FutureSafe available.
The advantages of the new generation are:
Weight reduction of up to 15 % with the same stability (compared to the previous model)
Simple and safe operation via cable pull and push buttons
Swivel arms are locked from the inside; unlocking is done by pulling the red loops
New design with lighter and more comfortable cushions; visually matches the vehicle interior
Extra comfort thanks to additional cushions for head and back support (optionally available in three sizes)
As usual, the new version of the head and backrest is divided and can be individually adjusted to the person in the wheelchair. When travelling without a wheelchair, it is simply swivelled towards the wall so the interior of the vehicle can be used without restrictions. Tested in numerous static tensile tests as well as dynamic crash tests, the FutureSafe 2.0 offers the accustomed safety in the event of a rear impact. In the event of a frontal impact, the integrated shoulder belt provides optimum protection for the wheelchair user. The FutureSafe is used in combination with the PROTEKTOR occupant and wheelchair restraint system to ensure maximum safety.
Depending on the vehicle type, the FutureSafe 2.0 is available with a floor or wall mounting. The floor mount is primarily designed for cars with a rear cut floor and access ramp. Here, the column of the head and backrest is anchored to the floor. The version with side wall bracket is suitable for minibuses.
