Mobile, more mobile, Mobili Kit: For more mobility into the narrowest corner

When mobility declines, the step up to a wheelchair can be very costly, both emotionally and organizationally. Benoit Systemes has found a solution here: With the Mobili Kit, you can still make a U-turn in even the smallest hallway – and in your own favorite chair. Tanya Veraksa told us about the advantages of the Mobili Kit and the story behind Benoit Systemes.
Ms. Veraksa, Mobili Kit is not a wheelchair replacement. For whom is it intended?
Tanya Veraksa: The Mobili Kit is intended for any user with a lack of mobility due to age, disease or disability and who wants to keep one’s autonomy by staying active at home or at work. It is a power device which has the shape of a four-wheeled powered base, on which you can install the seat of your choice and it’s driven with a joystick.
What are the advantages of Mobili Kit – also compared to a wheelchair?
Veraksa: The Mobili Kit adapts to more than 80 per cent of the seats with four legs. You will be able to keep on using your favorite chair. It’s compact and it spins around for U-turns, so it will allow you to move around easily even in confined spaces, for example between the pieces of furniture or in narrow corridors. You will not have to modify anything in your interior or in your office layout. It’s a great advantage compared to wheelchairs.
Furthermore, there are no specific requirements, the only one is to be able to use a joystick. Thanks to that driving is simple and accurate. There are five adjustable speeds and the device is very stable and maneuverable.
The Mobili Kit is closely reviewed and adjusted during the development phase.
Benoit Systemes does not reinvent the wheelchair but develops easy-to-use and useful add-ons. What are you currently working on?
Veraksa: Benoit Systemes is a specialist of lightweight power add-ons and mobility solutions with over 25 years of research and development in the field of mobility. The company designs, develops and produces equipment that is essential for users who choose to use it. The research and development department has recently grown with a new project manager. Four people are now working as support to the production and installation service. But not only our concepts are solid, but our products need some refreshment, thus we are working on a redevelopment of our power add-ons range, aiming to upgrade their quality, usability, technology and efficiency. We are specifically working on a new version of the Light Drive and Light Assist, in addition to a new Mobili Kit. These two main projects are meant to emerge by 2023, but they may not be the only ones.
In addition, at Benoit Systemes we carry on the legacy of its founder, Robert Benoit: paraplegic himself, his idea was to support people with reduced mobility by creating a variety of tools to cope with the different circumstances of everyday life. Persons willing to remain active and mobile in spite of impaired mobility as well as their closest ones are the focus and the core of our work. Our goal is to improve the quality of their lives by introducing easy-to-use and accessible equipment.
