“Don't let yourself be disabled” is the motto of the online platform and community EnableMe. The platform is backed by the Swiss-based foundation MyHandicap gGmbH, founded by entrepreneur Joachim Schoss. He is one of the ambassadors of the #TogetherForInclusion campaign, an initiative of Messe Düsseldorf and REHACARE, which aims to work together with committed people to create a platform that promotes an inclusive society in which diversity and participation are a matter of course and discrimination is a thing of the past.
Schoss explains: "My accident taught me how life can change fundamentally from one moment to the next and how many barriers people with disabilities have to overcome on a daily basis. That's why my foundation has been providing support for people with disabilities in all situations for 20 years."
EnableMe's offerings also include SafeSpace – a digital tool that helps people to decide whether they should disclose a health restriction in the workplace. The EnableMe Insights project enables people with disabilities to contribute their personal experiences as part of scientific surveys, product tests or interviews.
