Freedom on four wheels: How the Exoquad makes nature accessible to all
Thanks to the Exoquad, people with disabilities or chronic illnesses regain the freedom to explore nature independently.

You can see them everywhere on social media at the moment: breathtaking photos and videos of people enjoying Norway's wild, untouched nature. Steep mountains, lush green forests and thundering waterfalls cast a spell over you. But what is rarely seen in these images: people with limited mobility. Is there a way for them to experience fascinating but rough landscapes like these? Exotek, a small Norwegian company, has developed an answer to this question – the Exoquad.
The Exoquad is a fully electric, all-wheel-drive off-road vehicle specially developed for people with impaired mobility. Its purpose? To give people who are no longer able to hike or traverse rough terrain due to physical limitations the opportunity to enjoy nature to the full. Mattias Storvestre, co-founder of Exotek, has a very personal connection to this topic. The idea for the Exoquad came to him when he wanted to share his passion for outdoor activities with his partner, but couldn't find a vehicle that would allow her to do so with her limited mobility.
Making nature accessible to all
What makes the Exoquad so special? It is an off-road vehicle that not only gives people with paraplegia or multiple sclerosis the freedom to explore nature. People with other mobility impairments, whether due to Parkinson's, ALS, joint problems or age-related complaints, can also feel the wind on their skin and the thrill of adventure again with the Exoquad.
At just 90 kilograms, the Exoquad is surprisingly light, yet extremely stable. Its powerful motor and 2300 watt-hour battery capacity ensure that it masters even steep climbs and difficult terrain. 200 millimeters of suspension travel and double drop-out protection guarantee maximum comfort and safety. The design remains modern, functional and anything but clunky.
More than just an off-road vehicle
Thanks to its simple, high-quality construction, the Exoquad combines the highest quality with the functionality of an off-road vehicle – made in Norway.
Sigurd Groven, the second founder of Exotek and himself a paraplegic after a serious mountain bike accident, knows first-hand the challenges of mobility in the great outdoors: "The Exoquad has made my dreams come true! As a father of five children and an outdoor enthusiast, I never thought I would ever stand on a mountain peak again after my spinal cord injury. Luckily I was wrong!"
These stories are what make the Exoquad so special: it is not just a technical innovation, but an invitation to people to enjoy nature to the full again – regardless of their physical limitations. For Groven and Storvestre, it's about much more than just mobility. It's about the feeling of being part of nature. It's about the freedom to go where other paths stop.
Handcrafted in Norway
Every Exoquad is hand-built in Norway. Exotek focuses on small series and each vehicle is welded and assembled in a complex process. It is a premium product that combines the highest quality with the functionality of an off-road vehicle. And it takes people to places they might never have dared to go.
With the Exoquad, Exotek has not only developed a vehicle, but a vision: to make nature experiences accessible to everyone. This makes the Exoquad a technical milestone and a symbol of equality in adventure.
