Scewo BRO: accessible mobility solutions expand to Latin America

Swiss company Scewo AG is entering the Latin American market with its electric stair-climbing wheelchair, Scewo BRO, through a strategic partnership with Kuxtal DME in Mexico City.
The medical technology company based in Switzerland, has announced the expansion of its electric wheelchair, Scewo BRO, to Mexico. This move marks a significant step in the company’s international development beyond Europe. The collaboration with Kuxtal DME, a local expert in orthopedic and rehabilitation technology, will ensure that people with mobility impairments in Mexico gain direct access to test drives, expert consultations, and comprehensive technical support. For Thomas Gemperle, CEO of Scewo AG, the expansion to Mexico is a significant step. He outpoints the lack of accessible infrastructure in many areas.

The stair-climbing electric wheelchair Scewo BRO is now available in Mexico through Kuxtal DME, providing local access to consultations, test drives, and technical support.

Kuxtal DME has become the official distributor and service provider for Scewo BRO in Mexico. The partnership began after Eduardo Gutierrez, Director de Operaciones at Kuxtal Bioingeniería SA de CV, discovered the Scewo BRO at REHACARE 2024 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

After testing the device at the trade fair, Gutierrez visited Scewo’s headquarters in Winterthur, Switzerland, to gain a deeper understanding of the product’s technical aspects and capabilities. The visit confirmed the potential for collaboration, leading to the official agreement between the two companies.

Accessible mobility for a growing need

Scewo BRO, known for its stair-climbing functionality and sleek electric drive, addresses the mobility needs of users in areas with limited accessible infrastructure. The device supports greater autonomy for individuals navigating urban environments, particularly in regions where accessible public spaces are still under development.

Through its partnership with Kuxtal DME, Scewo is ensuring that:
  • People in Mexico City and surrounding areas can experience test rides of the Scewo BRO. 
  • Technical support and maintenance services are available for sustained use.
