Annika Flaake:
There have been significant advances in the development of assistive technology for people who are blind. A good Braille display is incredibly important to me in my working life because it enables me to participate fully in the workplace. What’s more, it allows me to work faster than I can with voice output alone.
The Activator is handy for people in education or work who are looking for a device they can use on the go. It’s a 40-cell Braille display and can be connected to a PC via USB and Bluetooth; it’s available with a lightning connector and a USB-C connector, so both types of iPhones can be connected.
Another handy feature is the multifunctional fold-out keyboard. When folded up, you have the Braille keyboard; fold it out, and a PC keyboard appears.
There is also an additional app. This app allows the Braille output to be displayed for sighted people.
My favourite new feature is that you can connect both so efficiently, easily and quickly to the iPhone; you can also do more and more on the iPhone via apps and communicate more quickly with colleagues.
