Hari Budha Magar completes Seven Summits with Ottobock support

On January 6, 2026, Hari Budha Magar reached the summit of Mount Vinson in Antarctica, completing his Seven Summits challenge and becoming the first person with double above-knee amputations to achieve this milestone. The peaks include Mount Everest (8,849 m), Kilimanjaro (5,895 m), Mont Blanc (4,810 m, replacing Mount Elbrus), Denali (6,190 m), Aconcagua (6,960 m), and Puncak Jaya (4,884 m).

After years of preparation and a three-day ascent in extreme conditions, with temperatures of -25°C, fierce winds, and icy terrain, Hari and his team reached the top at 22:00 local time. "The climb was very tough, the conditions and difficulty meant that I was literally crawling up on all fours, battling my way up the mountain," he said.

This accomplishment comes just two and a half years after his historic Mount Everest ascent. For Hari, the project is more than a mountaineering record, it’s a symbol of inclusion and perseverance.

"All of the 7 summits presented different and hugely challenging problems like the cold, the snow and overall conditions of Antarctic, but when people come together and help and you adapt processes and equipment for the needs of a disabled person anything is possible!" he explained.

"I’ve always said: It’s not just about reaching summits but about breaking down barriers – in the mountains and in people’s minds."
