Honoring Frank Sodermanns with the White Cross "Honor et Gloria"

With the approval of the Ukrainian parliament, the non-governmental organization "Agape Ukraine" awarded the "White Cross" to Frank Sodermanns, among others, for his commitment to the evacuation of people with disabilities and their relatives from Ukraine. Among others, the Consul General Mrs. Iryna Shum of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Düsseldorf was present. Almost two years after the relief operation began, the aid network has now been able to bring around 600 people to safety. 

In addition, the numerous donations in kind and money have been used again and again to provide, for example, generators to produce electricity and heat, wheelchairs, prostheses and orthoses, bandages, blankets, mattresses, washing machines, electrical equipment, medicines, food, clothing, hygiene and much more. 

"This award means a lot to me. We help people with disabilities to be mobile every day and we know how important that is. That's why I could well imagine at the time that in a war situation like this, people with disabilities can't simply run away and are dependent on the help of others. This award underlines the fact that we did the right thing and that we must continue to act. Because the people in Ukraine are not only fighting for themselves and their country, but also on behalf of Germany and Europe," says Frank Sodermanns.
