Inail, the National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work, is a public non-profit entity safeguarding workers against physical injuries and occupational diseases.
One of the main goals of the Institute is to ensure and facilitate the return to work of people injured at workplace. In this context operates the Centro Protesi Inail, a public facility, certified ISO 9001 and accredited by the Health Service of Emilia Romagna Region.
The Centro Protesi since 1961 hosts about 11,000 people (per year) with motor disability, both persons injured at work insured by Inail, and people assisted by the National Health Service, from the country and abroad. The Centre uses the most innovative technologies to produce orthopaedic prostheses and orthopaedic devices, the construction of which combines a functional and psychosocial rehabilitation training.
To provide performance that improves the quality of life of the patients, the Centro Protesi performs significant applied research with partners of excellence. At our booth at Rehacare two prototypes will be exhibited covering two projects with IIT - Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia of Genoa. The devices concern the study and development of an advanced prosthetic system of upper limb of robotic derivation and an active exoskeleton for the rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord injury.
Sport represents a fundamental moment for the recovery of an autonomous social life and for the real integration of people with disabilities in the social context. The experience acquired in the design and manufacture of special components and the use of materials with high mechanical and elastic characteristics, such as carbon fiber, kevlar and titanium, allows facing and solving the complex problems related to the production of highly stressed devices. The Centro Protesi Inail produces prostheses for any discipline (track and field, skiing, tennis, horse riding, fencing, windsurf, cycling...) to practice it both at the amateur level, whether professional. In this regard, the Centro Protesi manufactures the devices of some athletes of the Paralympic national team. At our booth at Rehacare two last-generation prostheses for track and field will be exhibited.
